Do you feel like this healing thing is taking you Do you feel like this healing thing is taking you longer than it should be? You are not alone 😫 I gave my therapist one week when we just started! We love a good deadline don’t we, but when it comes to healing there is no linear path. What might take someone one month to cope with, might take someone else a year to just begin to face. The person who you thought it took one year of therapy to cope with their trauma might still be dealing with loss of trust, anxiety and other things you cannot see. The only way to get through your healing journey is by focusing on YOUR healing journey. Whatever that looks like. Every time you show up to therapy, you journal your thoughts, you express your feelings instead of ignoring them and you recognise your needs instead of abandoning yourself - you are SHOWING up and taking steps in the right direction. Even when it doesn’t feel like it’s forward direction, you are still moving. Real talk had my first breakdown in 2014. My Dr recommended talking therapies to me for the first time in my life coz I was in denial about having depression and refused to go on meds. I had another incident in 2016. Finally got my first official therapist in 2019. Got another therapist in 2021. My first therapist from church in 2024. Another therapist in 2024 who helped me finally to disclose what happened to me. And guess what? I’m STILL in therapy!!! (Betterhelp referral link is in my stories!) Don’t be fooled by the pretty pictures, I almost died many times had it not been for God’s grace 🙏🏿 but I’m here & I’m finally free 🥹 So I can say from experience that YOU will make it through this, YOU are capable YOU are worthy and YOU are more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ ❤️ Freedom & joy are waiting for you on the other side. 33 years, 33 years, can you relate to a life like 33 years, 33 years, can you relate to a life like this? There is someone who wants to comfort you, to bless you, to pour into you what others have been taking. He wants to break the chains that bind you! To remove the fog that stops you seeing WHO you really are! To LOVE you even where you cannot love yourself. Let him kiss your wounds. Those dark corners you hide from everyone. He is not scared to go there and sit with you. You have to earn so much in this world, your titles, shelter, beauty, respect, admiration, followers, friends, spouses. But you don’t have to earn Jesus love ❤️ There is nothing you can do to make him love you less. There is nothing you can do to make him love you more. As a SAbuse survivor; shame, guilt, trauma and fear tried to hold me down for almost my entire life. It NEARLY won - it should have won, but praise God that in the midnight hour - he always shows up! When it’s the darkest, is when he shines brightest! When you are most alone, is when he holds you the closest. Jesus didn’t just die for you, he spent 33 years on this earth to SET YOU FREE from every demonic principality, power and potency over your life!!! There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him. He experienced every heartbreak, abuse, loss that you & I go through today so that we could be VICTORIOUS! Won’t you claim your victory today? So I threw a surprise birthday party for my mum in So I threw a surprise birthday party for my mum in Zambia! 🇿🇲 it was stressful as I was in UK and planning virtually with very little help 😩 but I went ahead because my mum has never had a party or wedding or something to celebrate her before. My family has also suffered so much loss. I was born in 90s Zambia so HIV/AIDS endemic & malaria wiped out my family. All I remember is funerals and people dying in my childhood so I wanted to change the narrative. The last time we had a party was before my Aunty Gertrude passed away in 2000, she was my mum’s youngest sister and would have been so proud of me for throwing a celebration for her sister coz that’s exactly what she would do 🥹🤍🕊️ There’s nothing like meeting together with family and just celebrating. I didn’t ask my relatives for anything except to show up and I’m so grateful they did because my mum is the first born and has truly mothered everyone in her family at some point 😅 she also raised me single-handedly and adopted my brother (Aunty Gertrude’s son) when my Aunty died so she was raising two of us ALONE in UK, imagine!! We didn’t even have a church community or something to help. I felt so guilty even adding more stress and probably that’s why I didn’t share about my about abuse and assault until 2024. Because mum worked soo hard for us, sacrificed and tried her best to ensure we SURVIVED. We praise God for being our Father & husband. He has provided, protected and poured healing into us, so that we can now go from survivors to THRIVERS! This is a cause for celebration!
